Entrada plans to launch software enhancements

Phoenix Business Journal - by Randi Weinstein

Entrada Software Inc. plans to launch enhanced versions of its two software programs, Kinnosa and eChange, next month.

Kinnosa, Entrada's own creation, is used to trace all of the components used in a product throughout the supply chain. EChange, formerly a product of the now-defunct Motiva company, is a document management software program. It helps engineers and product designers track each phase of a product's design, enabling them to more easily determine where design flaws could have occurred.

Both products are designed to help manufacturers throughout the supply chain in the event of product recalls.

Entrada purchased eChange earlier this year for an undisclosed amount and plans to integrate the product's technology into Kinnosa, said chief executive Bruce Williams.

The enhancements to both products were performed by Entrada staff, he said. The new versions are Kinnosa 3.0 and eChange 3.0.2.

Since acquiring the Motiva product line, Entrada has signed about 30 of the company's eChange customers.

Williams said Entrada should pull in about $2 million in revenue this year, and it will double its 25-person staff by January.

He also said the company is seeking between $15 million and $20 million in institutional and strategic investors.

Saddleback Communications, a division of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, is one step closer to increasing its customer base tenfold -- from 300 customers to more than 3,200.

The telecom company recently received approval from the Arizona Corporation Commission to purchase access lines from Qwest Communications International Inc., which presently serves about 3,200 customers on the reservation.

The sale still must receive Federal Communications Commission approval.

Saddleback, founded in 1997, was formed to increase the deployment of communications technology on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. A broader customer base would help it fund further advancements.

"Saddleback is in the process of building an extensive network of electronic equipment, fiber-optic cable and putting new copper wire where it's needed," said Michael Scully, president and general manager.

"The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community is witnessing our commitment to bring new services like DSL and high-quality, reliable voice and data communications to the area. In the years to come, we will be a key component of the economic progress that comes to the community."

Customer service suffers

A recent report from professional services firm Andersen indicates that telecommunications customer service, satisfaction and loyalty are suffering from the number of mergers and acquisitions in the industry.

According to the survey of 1,200 online users, 79 percent of respondents said service reliability has affected their decision to switch or stay with a provider.
