For the second straight week, the price of regular unleaded gasoline fell in some of the Southwest's largest cities, according to the Weekend Gas Watch, compiled by the Automobile Club of Southern California.

In the Phoenix-Mesa area the average price is $1.70, one-half cent lower than last week's average price.

Motorists in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area saw the average price fall by 1.6 cents this week to $2.03 per gallon.

In San Diego, the average price dropped fractionally to $2.01 per gallon.

But in the Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Lompoc area the average price was $2.02 per gallon, slightly higher than last week's price.

Gas prices dropped most sharply in Las Vegas, with a 2.4-cent decline to an average price of $1.81.
